Rubén Ramonda
Art as a bridge between history, community, and emotion.
Rubén Ramonda (Argentina, 1956) is a visual artist with a strong international trajectory, whose work spans painting, sculpture, and public space interventions. He studied at the Dr. José Figueroa Alcorta School of Fine Arts (Córdoba, Argentina) and earned a Master’s degree from the New York School of Art. He lived for more than three decades in the United States and Canada, where he exhibited regularly and took part in high-impact public art projects.
Throughout his career, he has received awards such as the Arcadia Foundation Grant in Siena (Italy), the First Prize Manuel Reyna in Córdoba, and was an invited artist at Central Park in New York. In 2004, his works were selected by the Argentine Postal Service for a commemorative stamp series marking FIFA’s centenary, merging visual exploration with the narrative of sport as a cultural symbol.
Now based in his hometown of Río Tercero —where he was named Cultural Ambassador— his art offers a political, poetic, and deeply community-oriented vision. Ramonda reclaims public space as a realm for art, creating monumental works that honor local sports figures, blending aesthetic sensitivity with collective memory.
Through a lens that is narrative, theatrical, and figurative, his work engages with both history and the present, in what he himself describes as “art in motion.” His steadfast belief in art as a tool for visibility and social transformation makes him a vital and coherent voice on the jury of our photography competition.
